U & ME Smart City
Overview

Smart City is a typical embodiment of the Information Society, including multiple scenarios of ICT applications: E-home, E-office, E-government, E-health, E-education, E-traffic and more. Smart City can be divided into four categories based on the type of its sponsor:

  • Government initiated: such as Singapore iN2015, u-Korea and some wireless cities in China;
  • Real estate initiated: such as a large number of new cities in the Middle East;
  • SP initiated: such as DIC in UAE, Airway and Huaneng Beijing in China;
  • Carrier initiated:such as DT in Germany T-city.

As we understand it, the smartness of a city can be summarized into several characteristics: Single infrastructure, multi-industry integration, attractive applications, rich knowledge workforce and a tuneful society.
